Is Jay Leno getting his material from Mitt Romney now? Or is it his writers? Discuss.
Now, before anyone gets themselves all worked into a tizzy over this one, it's important to note that the joke Jay Leno told on "The Tonight Show" last night is not exactly the same as the one told by Mitt Romney just days before. It's just really, really, really, obviously similar. Bonus points are awarded for either joke being really lame, by the way. See what you think in the side-by-side comparison we've got below, my gentle Examiner readers...
Yes, Jay Leno is back on "The Tonight Show", and nursing homes around the country are once again calm and safe places to be at bedtime. Further, it looks like Jay's brought back that classic bit where he takes other peoples' jokes and repackages them as his own. Man, I love that bit! Here, check out this recent footage of Mitt Romney doing his thing:
OK, I know you didn't want to watch Mitt Romney doing anything, but there's a payoff to this one. Check out this joke that Jay "Comedy" Leno told on last night's "Tonight Show" (be forewarned, it's just as funny as the rest of his monologue, and the joke in question is the first one up):
"Ha-ha! Good one, Jay!" says Kevin Eubanks, before crawling back to his dressing room and chugging down as much whiskey as his throat will allow so that he might be able to look at himself in the mirror once again. Of course, Leno's got a crack-team of writers working for him, so if the joke's stolen, it's probably more their fault than his. But this story's all over the place online right now, so expect to hear more on the oft-repeated idea that Leno steals material in the days ahead: Howard Stern's been really vocal about this exact kinda thing in the past, and I'm guessing he'll be weighing in any minute now (not that he hasn't been already).
