The Last Exorcism-- an upcoming faux-documentary produced by Cabin Fever and Hostel director Eli Roth-- is doing its best to overcome some cheesy-looking trailers and middling buzz before its debut next Friday, and it would appear that the folks at Lionsgate who put together a viral marketing campaign for the film may have outdone themselves this time: they've planted fake videos into Chat-Roulette to fool users into thinking that they're chatting with a possessed girl, and the results are...well, you can see for yourself below, my gentle Examiner readers...
We weren't particularly excited about seeing the upcoming faux-horror-documentary The Last Exorcism after seeing the weak-ass trailers that Lionsgate put together for the film, but ya gotta give credit where credit's due: they've put together one helluva viral marketing campaign for this one. If you've ever used Chat-Roulette, then you're familiar with the setup: one side of your monitor shows your face, the other shows the face of the person you're talking to. The folks behind The Last Exorcism's marketing campaign inserted some fake videos of a young girl-- who initially appears to be getting flirty with whoever she's speaking to-- that turns...well, pretty ugly.
The video below contains a few naughty words, so be careful if you're watching at work. Oh, and you may also want to be careful if you freak out over sudden, shocking, scary stuff. The girl in the video below goes from "Cute" to "Linda Blair" in the space of about ten seconds. Lionsgate, we gotta hand it to you: you've outdone yourselves on this one. Now we just gotta hope that The Last Exorcism is as good as its marketing campaign:
