Funny News: Darth Vader robs a bank in New Jersey (of course it was in New Jersey)

"Your lack of $100's disturbs me..."

Yes, that's Darth Vader in the photo above.  If you want to get technical about it, no, it's not David Prowse's body robbing a bank while James Earl Jones provides the voice-over, but we all know Darth Vader when we see him.  And what are the odds that this would have happened in New Jersey (with the possible exception of Florida, where else might this have taken place?  And don't say "Detroit"-- you and I both know they can't afford costumes this elaborate)?  Here's some of the official report on this situation that appeared in the New York Daily News:

The get-up struck one customer as so funny that he started joshing with the Darth Robber after he strode into the Chase bank in Setauket.

"The customer thought it might have been a joke, and not a serious attempt at a robbery," said Suffolk County police Detective Sgt. William Lamb.

But Darth wasn't kidding - and he wasn't going to be stopped by a non-Jedi Knight.

He won a "shoving match" against the incredulous customer before using his piece to order him to the floor, Lamb said.

If you're wondering how much Darth Vader got away with, the bank's still adding up yesterday's losses.  Here at the Comedy Examiner's Office, we don't support criminal enterprises, but this one's maybe OK.  Everyone likes to talk about how the banks oughtta be taken down a peg or two, and who better to do it than the Universe's most celebrated villain?  OK, yeah, maybe it would've been cool to see the Joker in those photos, but that might've been disrespectful to the memory of Heath Ledger (and criminals hate being disrespectful to Heath Ledger).  Stay tuned for more on this wacky situation as it becomes available, folks.

You can expect much more in the way of time-killing, anti-productivity in the near future from Comedy Examiner HQ.  We've got funny news, videos, reviews, interviews, photos, and more-- all meant to keep you as entertained at work as possible.  Or at home.  Whatever, that's your call.  Hit the "Subscribe" button up top to get all future Comedy Examiner articles delivered straight to your inbox, and be sure to check out these other recent articles you may have missed:

"FAMILY GUY" CREATOR SETH MCFARLANE SIGNS ON TO GIVE DAVID HASSELHOFF A VERY PUBLIC VERBAL BEATDOWN-- in which we learn that Seth McFarlane will be heading up this year's Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff.  Gee, I wonder what the comics involved are going to focus on?  I bet it doesn't involve the drunken consumption of cheeseburgers.

OFF-TOPIC TIME: NEWLY RELEASED VIDEO GAME "LIMBO" IS THE CREEPIEST THING YOU COULD INVITE INTO YOUR LIVING ROOM-- in which the Comedy Examiner goes off-topic to talk about the newly released video game "Limbo", which is indeed incredibly creepy.  Come witness the Comedy Examiner admitting that a video game scared him, just like a little girl!

TRAILER FOR THE "SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD" VIDEO GAME IS JUST AS AWESOME AS THE FILM TRAILER (WITH VIDEO)-- in which we check out the trailer for the video game adaptation of Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim VS. The World, which had the coolest trailer we've seen all year.  This one's incredibly awesome, as well.

UPDATED WITH VIDEO: LINDSAY LOHAN GETS CONFETTI THROWN ON HER WHILE ON HER WAY TO JAIL (WITH VIDEO)-- in which we look at video footage of Lindsay Lohan getting a big-ass handful of confetti thrown on her as she enters the court to be shipped off to jail.  It's pretty much the most satisfying thing that you're going to see all week.
