John Hodgman and David Rees at Second City on 10/28

Second to none!

AUTHOR JOHN HODGMAN TO DISPATCH MORE INFORMATION THAN YOU REQUIRE AT THE SECOND CITY 10.28.2008

The Second City is proud to announce that author and humorist John Hodgman will read from his new book, More Information Than You Require on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 7pm in The Second City's e.t.c. Theatre. Admission is free and it is certain that Hodgmania will ensue.

More Information Than You Require is Hodgman's second installment in his series of "Complete World Knowledge" and includes hilarious musings, fascinating trivia, handy reference tables and sage wisdom – all of it completely fabricated. Among its more popular features are a Taxonomy of Complete World Knowledge and a list of 179 mole-man names.

This is Mr. Hodgman's second appearance on The Second City's etc stage. His first was to celebrate his book The Areas of My Expertise in 2006.

John Hodgman is a writer and former literary agent and has been called "an irascible force of nature" and "a riverboat gambler," interestingly enough by the same person (Chuck Klosterman). His last book, The Areas of My Expertise, was hailed as "wonderfully absurd" by The New York Times, and "kind of stunning" by Ira Glass of This American Life.

He has written fiction essays and profiles for publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The Paris Review and Men's Journal. He wrote an advice column for McSweeney's for over a year entitled "Ask a Former Professional Literary Agent," and has been a featured correspondent on PRI's This American Life. He has also contributed to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Wiretap, appears regularly as the "Resident Expert" on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and can be seen as "The PC" in the "Get a Mac" advertising campaign for Apple.

Also appearing that evening will be cult comic sensation cartoonist David Rees. Rees is the creator of the critically acclaimed and controversial comic strip Get Your War On. He'll read from the newly released Get Your War On: The Definitive Account of the War on Terror, 2001-2008 . Get Your War On has been called the most daring and intelligent response to the War on Terrorism, and Rees has become a noted political firebrand and humorist. Rees's comics have appeared in Rolling Stone, GQ, the Guardian, the Village Voice, and the Nation and he is a contributing blogger at The Huffington Post.

Admission to this event is free. The ETC Theatre is located at 1608 North Wells Chicago, IL.

Books will be for sale in the lobby pre and post-show.
