Mitch Stinson was a Navy aviator who tried his hand at comedy in 2002 and believes he found his calling. Now, Stinson has been hired to take over as the host of Dick's Beantown Comedy Vault Monday Showcase.
Stinson is taking over for Kevin Knox, the Boston veteran comedian who passed away after a long battle with cancer in November. He will have some big shoes to fill as Knox was one of the most beloved comedians in the area, as the emotional response from the public when he died showed.
When it comes to how the show will change, he told the blog, Boston Comedy, Funny Grown Here:
"The major difference I plan for Monday nights is that Kevin Knox was the true star of any show," he says, "I plan on making the Boston comedy scene the star of this show. I hope to attract the area's best comedians to put on a quality entertainment experience for Monday nights."
He added that he plans to hit the street to raise his profile and garner more of a following for his version of the show and plans to emphasize his fellow comedians as much as possible.
