Comcast Provides Stunning Viewing Experience of the Masters in 3D Leaving Viewers Wanting More

On Thursday, April 8, Comcast hosted a stunning viewing demonstration for the 3D broadcast of the 2010 Masters Tournament at Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver. This was the first time that a sporting event was broadcast nationally in 3DTV on television and the Internet.

As a distribution partner for the Masters, Comcast, in partnership with Augusta National Golf Club, is bringing people together to watch the legendary Tournament like never before – in next generation 3D. With the focus primarily on the back nine holes of Augusta National Golf Club, attendees were able to experience the Masters as though they were actually on the course. The 3D experience gave viewers an amazing sense of the topography of Augusta, the dramatic changes in elevation and the unmistakable beauty and challenges of the course. Guests were in awe and left wanting more!

Comcast will be presenting two hours of 3D coverage a day. The 3D coverage started with the Par 3 event on Wednesday and will continue through the final round on Sunday. An intimate group of people had the pleasure of viewing the first and second rounds- holes 14, 16 and 18 with rotating coverage of holes 10-13 and 17.

Guests ranged from Comcast Executives to media, and from elected officials to athletes including former Bronco’s quarterback Brian Griese.

Comcast is excited to be on the forefront of innovation in the 3DTV space and we are actively pursuing more 3DTV content for the future.
