Midfielder Robbie Rogers was the only Columbus Crew player to make an international appearance over the weekend, in the US National Team's 0-1 loss to Slovakia on Saturday. Rogers, in his eighth appearance of the year, started and played the first 82 minutes before being replaced by Sacha Kljestan.
Two other Crew players had been called in to training camp ahead of this weekend's friendly, but neither Chad Marshall nor Frankie Hejduk were named to the game day roster.
Additionally, Crew midfielder Duncan Oughton was not part of the New Zealand team that clinched its two-leg playoff against Bahrain, sending the Kiwis to their first World Cup since 1982. Former Crew midfielder Simon Elliott played in the first leg, but was left on the bench for the home leg in Wellington.
The United States will play their final game of 2009 this coming Wednesday when they face off against Denmark in Aarhus. Frankie Hejduk and Robbie Rogers will remain with the team for that game, while Chad Marshall has been sent home after injuring his knee in training.
