Fan creates stir for impostering a Blue Jacket

Columbus Blue Jackets rookie forward Nikita Filatov had a lot of explaining to do, that was all until everyone found out that Filatov did not need to explain anything.

The popular social networking site Twitter had an account created earlier in the month claiming to be Filatov. The Twitter Filatov had choice words to say including a comment referring to the KHL: Interesting, Sergei Nemchinov just called and offered me largest contract offer I have seen so far, maybe KHL not so bad. The Twitter Filatov also called one member of the Blue Jackets press pool a "hack."

On Twitter today, the official Blue Jackets twitter page (which is confirmed to be official) state that Filatov's Twitter account was phony and that the team was in the process of having the account taken off. This came after members of the media asked Filatov about his Twitter usage and he did not have any knowledge of this account.  The account had drawn 367 followers.

After the Blue Jackets exposed the account as a phony, the person behind the account stated, "Alright I admit it this is a fake account. I am a Blue Jackets fan and just wanted to have some fun, I don't wish Nikita or the CBJ any harm. I have no idea how this account got verified. I created it knowing that Twitter verifies accounts and never thought anyone would believe me."

Teammate Mike Commodore is said to have had his Twitter account verified and uses his to respond to fans questions more than anything. He also reported the Filatov account as phony on his Twitter yesterday afternoon.
