With new head coach Cael Sanderson, the Penn State wrestling program scored its fifth straight win of the season, easily handling West Virginia University, 33-12, in a Friday dual meet in Morgantown, WV.
After the two schools each one the first two bouts, Penn State scored three falls in a row, putting the meet out of reach of the Mountaineers. Colby Pisani at 141 pounds, Frank Molinaro at 149, and Cael's younger brother Cyler Sanderson at 157 each scored pins to put the Nittany Lions out in front, 21-4, before intermission.
The evening ended on a sour note. In the heavyweight match, Penn State's Cameron Wade was ahead 2-0 over Brandon Williamson when the Mountaineer was disqualified for unsportsmanlike behavior as the bout ended.
Penn State, ranked No. 14, is now 5-1; West Virginia is 0-3.
