Lee Pritts will be the new assistant coach at North Carolina State University, joining the staff of head coach Carter Jordan and assistant Steve Anceravage.
Pritts brings considerable experience to the Wolfpack wrestling program, having coached at University of Missouri, and Old Dominion.
Pritts has had two tours of duty at Missouri, first for six years from 1998-2004, then again for the past two seasons, working directly with head coach Brian Smith and Tiger wrestlers such as Ben Askren, Matt Pell and Jeremy Spates. Between those two stints at Missouri, Pritts also served for three years at Old Dominion, as part of the coaching staff headed up by Steve Martin.
Pritts attended Eastern Michigan University, where he wrestled at 118 pounds. He was a two-time team captain and made three appearances in the NCAA Championships, earning All-American honors in 1996. In addition to his collegiate accomplishments, Pritts qualified for the 2000 Olympic Trials.
One of the Wolfpack wrestlers Pritts will be working with is Darrion Caldwell, who won the 149-pound title in a stunning upset of Iowa's Brent Metcalf in the finals of the 2009 NCAA Division I championships. Caldwell did not wrestle last season because of an injury last summer and follow-up surgery.
