Courseopedia: The education company of the future

courseopedia website community college
A company looking toward the future

Every now and again you get a chance to meet and talk with someone who is truly inspiring the future.  I recently got to speak with such a person, and his education business seems to be a building block for the future of college students.

"When a student goes looking for a course, I want them to find it."  That is Abdullah Yahya speaking, the owner, president, and co-creator of  Courseopedia, a new website that is making waves across California.  "I want our site to be the Monster.com of education.  I want students, faculty, and administrators to embrace a new way of searching for their classes."

How does this site work?

Once you get to the main page, you can select from a range of subjects.  You then tell the search engine your zip code.  From there you are taken to a result's page that lists all the courses available in your area.

According to Yahya, "We are currently focusing on students who are part of the continuing education field.  These are students who want to take classes but not necessarily pursue a full degree."  That idea is important, because it was what started Abdullah Yahya on his way to creating this site.

"I wanted to go back and take some classes.  I had already earned a degree, but wanted to take a French class.  There was so much information on each college's website that it made it almost impossible to find what I was looking for," said Yahya.  He continues, "I wanted to make a place where you can see what was available.  Then make your best education decision from there."

Yahya, and his partners, aren't just creating content for California.  They are looking to expand nation wide and hope that more then Community Colleges get on board.  "In fact, we already have faculty who have come to us and asked to put their course information online.  They know that they need a certain number of seats filled, in order to teach the class, and what better way to announce it," says Abdullah Yahya.

This is a company that you need to keep an eye on.  With so much education content available online, you have found a source that is starting to make sense of it.  The critics have been excited by what they have seen, and it's no surprise.  When a website comes along, like this, that allows faculty and students to coexist, share information, and get mutual benefits from one another, you have a a solid foundation for the future of education.

As a final note, make sure you learn as much about education companies that are making your life easier.  Abdullah Yahya, and the Courseopedia website, is a great example of what it means to want to sincerely help students succeed in their education.
