Four-star Baylor DB recruit Ahmad Dixon (Waco, Tx./Midway HS) is giving every indication that he intends to decommit and reopen his college search. He is now considering several SEC schools, including Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee.
Dixon is far and away the highest rated Baylor recruit. Dixon committed to his hometown school because of the relationship he formed with Baylor head coach Art Briles. The DB is apparently concerned that Briles will be fired by the Bears after going 2-18 in his first two seasons as head coach.
ESPN.com reports that Dixon commented at practice for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl: "In no specific order, Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee. Those would be my top three right now." When asked about Baylor, he added, "I'm still committed." But then later on he said, "I'm leaning toward somewhere else right now -- just having mixed emotions about it."
He has taken an official to UT but has trips to Alabama and Auburn scheduled for later this month, so a final decision is unlikely to come anytime soon unless that lean is a strong one.
Dixon is considered to be an exceptional defensive back that really is a prototype free safety. He has very good size and the height coaches look for in a free safety. He has great range and can cover from sideline to sideline efficiently. He possesses both excellent speed and a real burst. He projects as a first or second year starter whereever he signs.
Baylor appears to be out of the picture for Dixon. Bears' fans shouldn't be surprised, however. Dixon was a Texas commit in early 2009 before decommitting from the 'Horns to verbal with Baylor.

Did the governor of Alabama jump to quick about recognizing Mark Ingram, Heisman Tropy winner? No, not really. He has been a part of the special package of Crimson Tiders who turned this season into one that will be talked about many seasons ahead.
Things looked bleak for awhile when Alabama's top running back was shutdown in a game that had him toeing the line against America's most talented athletes.
A popular governor in a land where football remains king rushed forward with Ingram's name to give special honors before kickoff of the national title game. Naturally, Bama's head coach was trying to avoid any suggestion that the Texas Longhorns are overmatched. He has but to recall's last season's upset loss in a bowl game to consider what could happen in this contest if the Crimson Tide doesn't take the Texans seriously.
It hasn't been too many seasons ago when Alabama struggled and rivals Auburn hooted as they lined up to confront the Tiders in the Iron Bowl.
