What is the best way to push a Heisman campaign? Take it across country to the site of the Heisman Trophy presentation ceremony of course! That is exactly what the University of Washington is doing with Heisman hopeful Jake Locker.
Sunday afternoon the Pac-10's top quarterback touched down in the Big Apple and toured many of the sites he hopes to revisit in December. Today Locker is spending the day in the ESPN studios in Bristol, Connecticut and he is scheduled to be seen on multiple programs throughout the day [link];
It'll be an amazing, whirlwind day for the senior signal caller, starting with an appearance on the Mike and Mike radio show at 9:40 a.m. ET and concluding with a spot on the Doug Gottlieb radio show at 4:25 p.m. ET.
In between, Locker will hold a live chat on ESPN.com (at 1:30 p.m. ET), tape segments with a large variety of television programs, appear on several more radio shows and spend time getting to know the on-air and production staff at ESPN.
Locker will have a constant radio schedule for those able to tune in or listen on-line [link];
In the meantime, you'll have numerous chances to catch Jake on the radio Monday, starting with that appearance on Mike and Mike at 6:40 a.m. PT. He'll also be on the Scott Van Pelt Show at 9:30 a.m. PT, LA Live (on ESPN Radio 710 in Los Angeles) at 11:00 a.m. PT, and the Doug Gottlieb Show at 1:25 p.m. PT.
After a busy Monday Locker will spend his Tuesday at a lunch hosted by the University of Washington with members of the New York media, which should likely draw some off-season attention to the Husky quarterback. After the lunch Locker will pay a visit to the officers of Sports Illustrated.
If there is a media outlet that Locker does not appear on today I would be surprised. It appears I may not be able to turn on the television without seeing Locker's name or face on it. And with a visit to the Sports Illustrated offices and a meeting with New York media I expect to see some articles coming out in the next few days focusing on his Heisman chances in 2010. This is the perfect way to run an off-season Heisman campaign.
