We were contacted by the folks at CollegeNET. They wanted to talk about their system and invited us to interview one of their scholarship recipients. And so we interviewed Chris Colvin, who is working on his third degree.

Because of Chris’s situation, he was unable to qualify for many of the scholarships we talk about in this column. Because of CollegeNET’s format, he was able to collect $4,000 in a scholarship. And, as it just so happens, this is the amount of money he needed to help him to finish out his college education, and he was very much appreciative of CollegeNET.

One of Chris’s problems was his age. He is 30 years old, and this sets him apart for many scholarships, which are designed for recent high school graduates. Also, because he already had a degree, this disqualified him from other scholarships.

CollegeNET is unique in that people log on, lead forums and discussions, and people vote on who is leading the most interesting, informative discussion. Some of these forums can be serious, such as the topic if Iran, and some can be fun, such as the topic of pranks. Check out CollegeNET to see if it is for you. The next round of voting for a $4,000 scholarship ends on July 15.

One thing for sure, CollegeNET offers scholarship opportunities that are not available elsewhere.
