Increaseing the percentage of college grads ..., a good idea?
The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities issued the draft of a proposal to increase the number of students attaining post-secondary degrees to 55 percent of people between the ages of 25 and 34 by the year 2025.
The association is a group with members consisting of public universities and colleges. It currently has 218 institutions as members.
Is it a good idea to increase the number of youth who get postsecondary degrees?
While it might be a noble aspiration to educate the masses with the goal of setting the U.S. above other countries in terms of having an educated population and being leaders in the areas of scientific research, some people have pointed out in the Wall Street Journal that it might not be a bad idea to have a few more plumbers and a few less lawyers.
Still, if there’s going to be a push to increase the number of students graduating from college, there’s bound to be some financial incentive. The Examiner will keep you posted on those grants and scholarships as they become available.
