Now that the deadline for students to accept their admissions offer has passed, colleges are evaluating the number of spaces that are still available in their fall class. While many schools will utilize a wait-list to fill these spots, many more will be relying on continued submission of student applications. This is good news for students that have been denied to the college of their choice.
The National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) has posted on its site a list of their member schools that are still accepting applications for student enrollment. Students can log onto the site and search by the state of their choice. A list then appears of which schools are still accepting applications from students.
In North Carolina, students can participate in the College Redirection program. This program is available for students who were denied admissions to a North Carolina college. The program allows students to submit their application to a pool of North Carolina colleges and universities that still have open admissions slots. The pool is open from April 1 until August 31.
To participate in the College Redirection program, the student must be a resident of North Carolina. They need to sign in on CFNC.org to participate. The sooner a student signs up, the better their chances of being selected.
While rejection from the school of your dreams is hard, remember that their are thousands of colleges across the country. Taking time to consider another school may offer possibilities you never dreamed of and just may turn out to be a great opportunity.
