In a look back at a February 2009 interview, Coldplay fans get to know the modest side of frontman Chris Martin.
"I don't like the word 'rock star,' the two words, 'rock star.' Not even 'soft rock star,'" Martin told 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Kroft. "I don't wear the right pants for that. You gotta wear the right trousers if you're gonna be a rock star."
"We relymore on enthusiasm than actual skill," he told Kroft. "Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically and people will like it more."
Martin and bandmates guitarist Jonny Buckland, bass player Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion have been playing together for an incredible 12 years. They met in their college days, sharing a $100 a week flat on Camden Road. Signing a record deal after finishing college, Coldplay's debut album soared to number one in the U.K.
When asked if he'll ever take a break from writing new music, Martin replied, "No. Take a break when I'm 40, or 35. Not now. I've gotta keep writin' songs as long as I've got hair, 'cause once it goes, then I won't be able to go on stage."

Chris Martin's is a special guy. Same goes for the rest of the band. Given their astounding success their down to earth personality is truly remarkable. Look forward to a lot more Coldplay...
Something about Chris has always attracted me to him. I saw a show of their "Viva la Vida" tour. It was absolutley amazing. Can't wait for another album! :)
