Sandee Rodriguez came into journalism in a surprising and unexpected way. At 17, she began writing poetry and children's literature. During college, she expanded her experiences writing short stories, stage and screenplays, print and online articles. In 1995, six Detroit area newspapers and a magazine featured her because of a life changing event. First-hand knowledge of what journalism is had her pursuing it in college and as a career.
