The Barbados Rum Punch
With Mother’s Day come and gone, Father’s Day is just around the corner on June 21st! What do to? This year, Mount Gay Rum has come up with a real nice Rum Punch to serve to Dad at the backyard barbecue.
The nice folks over at Mount Gay Rum sent over a sample and loads of information. Barbados’s own Mount Gay Rum is one of the oldest in the world, born in 1703, a whole 73 years before the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence. Mount Gay Rum uses purified water and some very fine molasses, and ages in Kentucky Oak Barrels for distilling. (Rum is made from the fermented juice of sugar cane or sugar cane byproducts.) Mount Gay Rum’s Extra Old is aged 8-15 years, resulting in an aroma that hints of the oak it was distilled in. The taste is spicy yet smooth with hints of brown sugar, delicious and great neat for the rum drinker or in cocktails.
Something else fun about Mount Gay Rum, if you visit Barbados, you can tour the distillery and have a taste of the rum. While you might not be able to afford to take Dad down to Barbados for the weekend, there is a taste of the island in every bottle! Mount Gay Rum’s Extra Old suggested retail price is $44.99 a bottle.

Comments
You might want to double check this recipe- I think there's a typo. 4 oz of lime juice against 13 ounces of simple syrup and 12 oz of grenadine is far too sweet.
After reading your comment, I double checked with Mount Gay Rum who confirmed that this is the correct recipe for their Rum Punch. Thank you for taking the time to read the post and write your comment!
