16 most popular classic cocktail recipes

16 Most Popular Classic & Vintage Cocktails - GrasshopperClassic & vintage cocktails bring to mind bygone drinks such as the Porto Flip, Seelbach Cocktail or even the Corpse Reviver #2 so wickedly resurrected every Halloween. Yet classic cocktails are more common than one might think and often searched for on the internet and ordered at the corner bar. These drink recipes are recreated every day in kitchens and basement home bars due to their ease of construction and broad appeal in flavor. Although these recipes have stood the test of time, they are not the usual cocktails one might find on modern style Speakeasy cocktail menus that have become so popular in the last few years.

What these recipes lack in rarity, they certainly make up for in flavor when built correctly. Oftentimes when a cocktail becomes so overly made and commonplace, such as the Cosmopolitan or Daiquiri, it gets taken for granted. The end result is a haphazardly built drink or one ‘eyed’ with a lot of spirit and a little mixer thinking the sum of all the ingredients in any measurement equals the same classic drink or great tasting version of it.

The photo drink recipe slide show below features 16 of the most popular classic cocktails by internet search. Since these vintage cocktails are so widely recognized a few are adaptations rather than the standard classic recipe. 21 Must Try Classic Cocktails and Top 10 Classic Cocktails covers an assortment of reader favorites and some tempting gin cocktails that are more fun than classic.

I have completely forgotten about the Grasshopper. That looks like something my Wife would enjoy. I think I'll surprise her with one this weekend instead of her normal Midori based cocktail.
