Margaritas can be tart and tangy like the classic Margarita, or sweet and juicy like the well-known Strawberry Margarita. But Margaritas can also be zesty and spicy, like this Spicy Cucumber Margarita. It tempers the heat of jalapeno with the cool of cucumber, and it’s a delicious, refreshing cocktail.
Spicy Cucumber Margarita recipe
- ½ cucumber, peeled and cubed
- 1 slice jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
- 1 oz. tequila (a reposada is recommended)
- ½ oz. fresh lime juice
- ½ oz. orange liqueur (Grand Marnier or triple sec)
- splash of sour mix
Muddle the cucumber and jalapeno pepper in a shaker. Add tequila, lime juice, sour mix, and orange liqueur along with several ice cubes, and shake. Strain into a tall glass over fresh ice, and serve garnished with a small pepper or a cucumber wheel.
For extra zip, rim the glass with a mix of coarse salt and chili powder before building the drink.
