Michael Jackson's unexpected death on Thursday has created an outpouring of emotion and loss around the world, of a magnitude that is seldom seem. Since Jackson was known as a non-drinker, whipping up his favorite cocktail as a way to remember the musical icon isn't possible, but there are several drinks that would seem appropriate. Toast Michael Jackson in style with one of these.

The ABC

Many fans remember Jackson as a adorable child that burst on the pop scene singing with his brothers in the Jackson 5. Remember that period of Jackson's career with the ABC, a quick and easy shot with a massive punch. Build the drink in a shotglass, with 1/3 absinthe, 1/3 Bacardi 151, and 1/3 chartreuse.

The Zombie

For fans of Thriller, there surely can be no better choice than the Zombie. The classic combination of rum, juices, and orgeat syrup can have anyone dancing in the streets, although preferably not as one of the undead.

Moonwalk

The Moonwalk was actually created in 1969 by Joe Gilmore at the Savoy Hotel in London to mark the first moon landing, and is said to be the first cocktail the astronauts had when they returned to earth. Michael Jackson's moonwalk isn't quite as momentous, but still worthy of note. To make the Moonwalk, combine equal parts of grapefruit juice, Grand Marnier and rose water. Shake well and strain into a wine glass, and top off with chilled champagne.

But perhaps the most appropriate drink to raise in Jackson's honor is the mocktail named after another iconic child star, the Shirley Temple. Combine three ounces of lemon-lime soda with three ounces of ginger ale in a tall glass with ice cubes. Add a dash of grenadine and stir. Serve it garnished with a maraschino cherry.
