The chocolate martini - a beautiful drink that tastes
good, too. Perfect for Valentine's Day!
If you're not one for hearts and flowers, you may be horrified to realize that Valentine's Day is only two weeks away. Don't worry. With these decadent chocolate cocktail recipes, making an impression as a great romantic is a snap.
If there's anything that's a natural pairing with Valentine's Day, it absolutely has to be chocolate. Well, maybe not so much for the guys, but is there a woman out there who hasn't daydreamed about those beautiful heart-shaped boxes filled with melt-in-your-mouth goodness?
Godiva Chocolate Berry Diva
Thanks to the romantics at TheBar.com for this luscious recipe.
- 1 oz. Godiva Milk Chocolate Liqueur
- 1 oz. raspberry liqueur
- 4 oz. club soda
Pour Godiva and raspberry liqueurs over ice, and top off with club soda. Serve garnished with a fresh berry.
Death by Chocolate
Even without the heart-shaped box, this drink has enough chocolate to satisfy the wildest of chocaholics.
- 2 scoops chocolate ice cream (use a super-premium brand for the creamiest results)
- 1 oz. chocolate syrup
- 1 oz. coffee liqueur
- 1 oz. dark creme de cacao
- 1 oz. vodka
- crushed ice (about 1 cup)
Pour all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a tall stemmed glass, and garnish with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.
Chocolate Martini
There are dozens of recipes for chocolate martinis, but this is one of the easiest and most basic. A delicious variation would substitute Godiva Milk Chocolate Liqueur for the creme de cacao.
- 2 oz. vodka
- 1 1/2 oz. white creme de cacao
- shaved chocolate
- chocolate syrup
Drizzle the chocolate syrup in thin lines in a chilled cocktail glass, and set aside. Combine the vodka and creme de cacao in a shaker with ice, and shake briskly to chill. Carefully strain into the prepared cocktail glass so the syrup isn't washed away, and garnish with shaved chocolate.
If you want to up the romance factor still more, add some extravagant, decadent chocolates. You'll find wonderful choices at Panache Chocolatier on The Plaza (the chocolate covered Double-Stuff Oreos don't scream 'romance,' but they're delicious), or check out the Godiva Chocolate Boutique at Oak Park Mall.
