Senator James Inhofe, one of the most outspoken
critics of the manmade climate change theory,
announced he would go to the Copenhagen climate
conference as a 'one-man truth squad.' (COP15)
Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe announced on C-SPAN in September that he would be traveling to the Copenhagen climate summit as a “on-man truth squad.” The senator is one of the most outspoken critics of the cap and trade legislation and a leading skeptic of the manmade climate change theory. In light of the recent revelations surrounding Climategate, it is unclear whether or not the senator is still planning to attend.
The senator previously attended a similar U.N. conference in Milan, Italy in 2003 where he quickly became one of the event’s villains. “Wanted” posters with the senator’s picture were posted in the conference center at that event with his quote calling global warming, “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people.”
In the interview, Inhofe discussed the Waxman-Markey climate change legislation that the House of Representatives passed and a similar initiative authored by California Senator Barbara Boxer that is now working its way through the Senate. Inhofe pointed out that neither of the measures would result in a decrease in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions but would cost billions of dollars. “To pass the largest tax increase in the history of America that even the EPA director says is not going to reduce the emissions is ludicrous,” he said.
About his announcement to go to Europe for the UN conference, Inhofe said, “I’m going to go to Copenhagen. I think somebody has to be there – a one-man truth squad – so let’s see what happens there.” The senator said the science on climate change was “mixed.”
Inhofe said he believed that dissenting voices which have gone unheard before need to be represented at the United Nations Climate Change Conference. It was hoped the conference would yield an international treaty to combat global warming but that now appears to be out of reach with leaders saying they hope to reach a 'political agreement.'
President Barack Obama announced he would attend the start of the summit and offer goals that would include an emissions reduction target of 17% below 2005 levels by 2020 and then fall in line with any legislation that comes from Congress. However, the offer is dependent on getting Capitol Hill to pass some sort of climate legislation which will not happen until spring at the earliest, if ever.

Given that Senator Inhofe represents a state with a lot of gas and oil industry jobs and campaign contributions, well duh no surprise the company with which he keeps.
And Winston looked at the sheet handed him:
“Adjustments prior to 1972 shall be -0.2 degrees and after 1998 shall be +0.3 degrees.”
Winston wondered at the adjustment to the data. At this point, no one even knows if the data, prior to his adjustments, was raw data or already adjusted one or more times previously.
It didn’t matter. All Winston was sure of is that one of the lead climatologists needed more slope to match his computer model outputs. He punched out the new Fortran cards and then dropped the old cards into the Memory Hole where they were burned.
“There!” Winston exclaimed to himself. “Now the temperature data record is correct again; all is double-plus good.”
Evidently that state with a lot of gas and oil, can turn out people who can take temperatures accurately unlike the US and the UK scientists, and now, the NZ scientists< I am happy to learn that NASA/GISS and the CRU are being sued. Soon we too will be able to see our real temperature data.
Whatever, Ken. Let us not forget how many millions of dollars in grants these scientists receive just for going along with the climate change theory. Think that money might influence their research? Oh, of course not, after all we have seen how ethical they are. Give me a break.

It is a vast conspiracy and East Anglia was ground zero. Other institutes around the world had the people approved by East Anglia put in place, such as in the New Zealand government's chief climate advisory unit NIWA. The ripple effect of those only approved out of East Anglia continued on outward from their satellites like NIWA.
The report the US government and the United Nations is working off of is also straight from East Anglia.
There is no way anyone with a logical mind could not see that it is indeed a vast conspiracy based on disinformation and greed.

The money argument is quite easily refuted. If one were to suppose that scientists were claiming AGW just to get grant dollars, then it would be a danged short sighted approach. Scientists are saying the issue is settled from a scientific perspective, now you leaders get busy doing. There's no research money for climatologists in changes to the power grid, changes in the way we generate energy, more efficient home heating, electrification of transportation, et al.
If an unethical scientist wanted to ensure a secure economic future from grant money in the area of climate studies, then the smart thing to do would be to claim the issue isn't settled and that more research money is needed to continue studying the climate.
Ken, respectfully, you can’t honestly think that there is no money to be made from this over the long term.
If global warming presents a real threat, then determining how to combat it will be the next big thing for climatologists. We know that CO2 emission cuts alone (at least as currently proposed) won’t cut CO2 enough if it is the devil alarmists say it is.
It will take money to figure out how to fix it – be it via geoengineering, methods sequestering CO2, etc. Someone also is going to have to measure our success at implementing solutions (climatologists of course). And , no matter which side you are on, there is a lot we don’t know about the earth and how everything interacts so there is certainly more study to be done no matter what.
There is big money on both sides of the debate and I think dismissing an argument based on where someone gets money from really doesn’t do a critical thinker justice and it sure doesn’t invalidate any arguments.
As a graduate of Penn State's College Earth and Mineral Sciences (pre ecomarxism) I have followed this debate like a laser since the 80's. I have a real job with real scientists who have always seen AGW as a hoax. Nobody from the UN called us.
It has always been clear to us that a new type of rogue scientist was evolving, quite mysteriously, over AGW. They do not fit the precise definition of a conspiracy, for these people are individually motivated liars. Formerly intelligent scintists have been transformed by a hidden force we have not been able to identify. The AGW data and computer models are rediculous. Initially we placed their motives as socialism/communism with large dollops of Earth worship and God denial.
Perhaps I've overthunk it, and it's all about power and cash for a bunch of lonely dorks I used to see at the EMS campus library. How cool are you now?

There is a doomsday message that is swiftly gaining global acceptance. The new wave is clothed in acceptable clichés and has won over the support of many of the respected scientific communities.
Unlike most other doomsday messages, this one is supposedly based upon scientific evidence. The scientific “doomsdayers” wear masks and pretend that they are predicting calamities based on hard evidence. This lulls the unsuspecting public into absolute belief and acceptance of the doomsdayers’ ravings.
