One of the key scientists at the center of the Climategate email scandal has threatened suit against the creators of a video parodying the event. Lawyers for Dr. Michael Mann of Penn State University say the video “irreparably harms Dr. Mann’s personal and professional reputation.”
The video, launched last November in the wake of the scandal that saw some of the top climate scientists’ emails exposed, uses an image of Mann taken from Penn State’s website. Singing the refrain “Hide the Decline” which refers to one of the more controversial emails, the video is set to the tune of "Draggin the Line" by Tommy James and the Shondells.
Originally created by the operators of the website Minnesotans for Global Warming (M4GW), the video became a YouTube sensation and garnered over half a million views in five months.
In a letter from the lawfirm Cozen – O’Connor Attorneys, Peter Fontaine demands that all versions of the video be pulled from YouTube and other sites. Fontaine writes that, “The referenced video clearly defames Professor Mann by leaving viewers with the incorrect impression that he falsified data to generate desired results in connection with his research activities.”
M4GW has complied with the removal request but many copies of the video published on other sites and by other people persist on the Internet. The group said they only complied because they did not have the financial resources to defend themselves.

Members of a coalition of climate change skeptics, the No Cap-and-Trade coalition, have jumped to defend M4GW. They say on their website, “As a public figure engaged in a public policy debate, Dr. Mann has no expectation of privacy and is subject to public criticism for his position on the issues.”
The group has created a webpage outlining the problems with Mann’s infamous and now discredited ‘hockey stick.’ The page further discusses what the scientists were referring to when they discussed “Mike’s Nature trick” to hide a decline in temperatures shown in data.

Mann is mud! Mann is done! By suing Mann has literally immortalized this parody...AND his disintegrating reputation.
Mann is done like dinner. So is the phony tax scheme called Climate Change.
I hope Mann does sue. Discovery would be good for all of us and we could all see what he has been up to.
This like everything else the left has tried to 'feed' the people, will be proven (when good people stand and speak the truth and the facts) to be nothing more than a power grab and toxic for America. Just look at the 'stimulus/slush fund bill, health care for all and don't worry you can keep your own doctor, imigration reform (build a permanent voting block for the libs using amnesty). The problem with socialism is socialism.
Just wondering, how are we going to fix the global climate, if we can't stop an oil spill in the gulf of mexico? Maybe Mann can tell us!
Discovery from a Mann lawsuit would indeed be good. Climate Change Denial Crowd, you REALLY don't wanna go into court and run smack into a mountain of information from the scientific community. Best thing to do is continue your neener-neener-neener tactics because you cannot win when thinking people analyze the data.

Read the letter from the lawyers. He apparently can't spell. He appears to have used used "cashed" when the proper term is "cached".
Lawyers can't wait to get into the fray. The AGW'ers will be crucified once these suits go to the courts. There is no evidence, zero, zilch, nada, none, that CO2 has any effect on climate. Bring it on.

Mr.Mann is a sack of sh##. He lied about global warming and now he is using lawsuit intimidation to hide that fact that he is a lier, crock and bad person.

Get him to sue. If you really believe that AGW is false, as it is, then see him in court.
He will lose!!
He won't go to court. If he does, then ALL his notes and emails (which he is trying to keep from the citizens of Virginia), will be subject to discovery. He cannot allow that.
