"SUGAR RUSH" Showcases local artists in fundraiser for Diabetes

• Do you hear about a lot of local Indie bands that you want to check out but seldom get a chance to actually go hear them live?
• Are you free on Thursday April 15th, and want to celebrate the ending of tax season? (Even if you procrastinate until midnight of the filing deadline, you can still come out and join—the party will go on well into the wee hours of April 16th)

• Do you like to have a great time out while supporting a good cause?

If the answer to any of the above questions is “yes,” then consider a visit to 111 Minna Gallery on April 15th at 9PM.  Performers will include:

The list represents a veritable “sugar rush” of styles and art forms—an explosion of local talent. But that’s not where the event’s name comes from.

Diabetes is a disease characterized by abnormally high glucose (aka SUGAR) levels in the blood.  We’re not talking about hyper-active kids who have had too much candy (though this is also a vexing societal problem).  We are talking about a potentially lethal condition—the 7th leading cause of death in the US,killing at least 233,619 Americans in 2005 according to NDIC. 

According to American Diabetes Association, 7.8% of the U.S. population has diabetes—that’s 26.8 million diagnosed, with 1.6 million new cases each year.  An estimated 59 million additional Americans are at risk of becoming diabetic.

All proceeds from SUGAR RUSH will benefit the American Diabetes Association, with money going to help prevent and cure the disease.
