While many reality stars can get carried away with sudden fame, Britain's Got Talent's Susan Boyle is keeping a level head and taking it one day at a time. I was particularly impressed with the way she handled herself on Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer.
Susan Boyle Appears on Good Morning America: Not Pleading for Sympathy
I really respected Susan Boyle for not exploiting her personal tragedies for pity votes. When Good Morning America asked her what she wanted to say to her parents who might be watching from above, she kept it simple. She said that she hoped to make her parents proud.
Good Morning America's Diane Sawyer's questions were bordering on tacky. She asked Susan Boyle about never having a boyfriend, never being kissed, and being picked on at school. While many people would lose their cool under such circumstances, Susan Boyle was polite and dignified. On the subject of romance, she politely responded, "no comment."
Diane Sawyer also asked what Susan Boyle would do with the money if she won. Susan Boyle diplomatically said "baby steps." She was taking it one day at a time.
Diane Sawyer asked Susan Boyle about her hip dance, to which she dryly responded "let's keept it ladylike."
Susan Boyle Appears on Good Morning America: Keeping it Simple
Diane Sawyer also mentioned the influx of greetings and well-wishes from around the world and asked her to read one of the cards. Displaying her dry sense of humor, she picked up a card from her sister that read, "well done and good luck." No fluff, no excessive outpouring of emotion. Susan Boyle keeps it simple (if a bit tongue in cheek). She'll let her singing speak for itself.

I don't think anyone's ever said that Diane Sawyer is particularly intelligent.
what a horrrible horrible interview diane sawyer did with susan boyle...she has lost any respect i had for her...susan is miles beyond her...diane i hope you watch and learn something about humanity, authenticity and soul from this astounding human...very very sad to see, i really thought better of you..
May we all learn a lesson from the honesty exhibited during the performance of Susan Boyle. I played the entire performance during my classes I teach at a small Georgia town and discussed the problems that people everywhere have with stereotyping. Let each of us accept people for their full potential and give them a chance to prove the talent that they possess to contribute to humanity as a whole. Diane, I was disappointed with the interview and the paths you were trying to walk with Susan about her personal life. Next time think and give the respect to a person that obviously deserves our applause.
Diane Sawyer is a loust interviewer. Susan Boyls has tons more class than DS and is a down to earth lady. Much more than I can say for DS asking the ignorant questions she did. I couldn't care any less about Susan's personal information. Just leave it at what she has already said. Susan is a living testament to how cynical people in the world have become. And DS just doesn't get that, she just perpetuated it. DS owes this lady a huge apology.
diane sawyer's interview was awful. her questions was unprofessional, rude and made her look tacky and stupid. those questions were so personal and didn't focus on susan boyle's singing talent... susan however, unlike diane was "lady-like" throughout that horrendous interview and held herself with poise and confidence.
