TCM airs Judy Garland movies all day with 2004 By Myself special at 6 pm
I'm not sure of the occassion, not that we need one, but Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is filling the daytime schedule with 6 Judy Garland movies throughout today, Wednesday, July 8, before leading into the 2004 special Judy Garland: By Myself at 6 pm (EST).
There's a special article about Judy Garland: By Myself over on the TCM website which notes that the 117 minute special uses "Judy's personal recordings to tell the story in her own words." Apparently the recording quality of Garland herself was pretty bad, as the special has been re-voiced by Isabel Keating, who played Garland on Broadway in The Boy from Oz. According to TCM "Garland holds nothing back in her recollections. She touches on the personal as well as the very public aspects of her life." By Myself is also packed with Judy Garland film clips, from the standard (Wizard of Oz clips) to the rarely seen (a 1929 short Bubbles that features Judy singing with her sisters).
