The Aero Theatre has just added an evening dedicated to Oscar nominee Max von Sydow: On Feb. 6, they'll screen one of his best-known films, The Seventh Seal from 1957, and his newest, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, for which he is currently nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
A Q&A with the actor will be held between films.
His long career includes Wild Strawberries and Hour of the Wolf for Ingmar Bergman, as well as '70s classics Three Days of the Condor and The Exorcist. Now 82, he's continued to act in films including Minority Report and Shutter Island. Often cast as a villain, thanks to his intimidating yet soft-spoken presence, he plays a character who never speaks in Extremely Loud, but who bonds with a young boy seeking to solve a riddle left by his late father. Von Sydow was previously nominated by the Academy for Pelle the Conqueror in 1987.
The evening begins at 7:30. Tickets are $7 for Cinematheque members and $11 for the general public.
