Cool breezes and abundant sunshine greeted car lovers at Booth's Corner Farmers Market on Saturday April 10 as the Historical Car Club of Pennsylvania returned with their first show of the 2010 season. The club was well represented with cars from the thirties through the seventies of all shapes and sizes. From a diminutive Nash Metropolitan to a sprawling Lincoln Continental Mark IV, hot rods and customs to stunning originals and muscle cars, there was something to tickle everyone's fancy.
Now in it's 61st year, the HCCP boasts over 700 members and is one of the oldest and largest independent car clubs on the East Coast. I am always amazed at the diversity of vehicles at the HCCP events. With such a prolific membership it is no surprise that these shows bring out some of the finest examples of local classic cars.
The club has a full calendar of events planned for the 2010 season. Cruise nights are usually held the last Friday of the month. A schedule change has April's cruise moved to this Thursday, 4/22 from 5:00 to 9:00, meeting at Springfield Ford. Regular cruise nights meet at Russell School on Rte 320 between Lawrence Rd and West Chester Pike. Meeting at 6:00 for a 6:30 departure, this year's dates are May 28 (Just Ice Cream in Aston, PA); June 25 (Sonic Drive In in Morgantown, PA); July 23 (Ray's in Plymouth Meeting); August 27 (Drexel Lodge/Museum, Ice Cream Social) and September 10 (Handel's Ice Cream in Berwyn, PA).
The club's next big event is the annual Spring Meet and Flea Market, this year at Linvilla Orchards (137 West Knowlton Rd, Media, PA) on Sunday May 16th from 9:00 until 4:00, rain or shine. There will be twenty judged classes with four awards per class with dash plaques to the first 250 show vehicles registered and in attendance and special awards to the first thirty AACA National First vehicles registered and in attendance. Linvilla is a tremendous venue with on site bakery, picnic grove, hay barn and play area, gift shops, plants and vegetables and food is available. For more information, call 610-454-8806. For flea market information, call 610-876-4375 or visit www.historicalcarclub.org.
Please take a moment to check out some of the member's rides on the slideshow and if I don't see you at Linvilla on May 16th, I'll see ya down the road...
