Ultimate cross Canada classic car cruise

Driving a classic car from St. John’s, Newfoundland, to Victoria, BC, attending various cruise nights and car shows en route, meeting and mixing with local car clubs all along the way—what a great way to spend the summer! And that’s just what the participants in the Coasters Coast to Coast Tour 2010 did.

According to organizer and participant Fraser Field, 120 vehicles registered for the tour. Eighty-three of those made the whole trip, from coast to coast, while many others joined up for smaller portions. Given that 45 of those vehicles had participated in a similar tour in 2000, and 54 have already signed up for the 2017 tour, the Coasters are doing something right.

The tour left St. John’s on July 7, in vehicles ranging in age from a 1931 Ford to a 1990 Chevrolet Suburban (a last minute substitution). There were many stops in the Maritimes, including a parade through Cupids, Newfoundland, where local photographer John Guy captured the event.

They reached the Quebec border July 21st, stopping to tour Quebec City, passing through Montreal, and hitting the Concours d’Elegance car show at Chambly on July 24. Check out www.burnout.ca for a write-up (in French) and great pictures of the show. Then it was on to Ontario on July 25, across the prairie provinces, reaching the end point in Victoria on August 20, right on schedule.

Detailed logs of the trip have been posted by two of the coasters, and many of them have already added their photos to the Coasters website.
