Conpiracy theorists that make birthers look sane

There are many Americans out there that believe Barack Obama was not born in Hawaii but in fact was born in Kenya. The birthers as they are called seek to prove this and to have Obama removed from office.

Sounds crazy but there are many people who believe this for what ever reason. Just as there are the birthers, there are those who believe that the government has camps to lock up people who criticize Obama.

They will take away dozens of young people in the night to brainwash them into liking Obama. These claims do exist and they are fed by paranoia of the government and Obama. They spread over the internet like wildfire. Websites like World Net Daily feed this paranoia.

They recently posted an article about an army recruiting ad. According to them the ad was for a internment/resettlement specialist. They write that the ad is raising alarms about domestic detention camps.

The army ad states:

Internment/Resettlement (I/R) Specialists in the Army are primarily responsible for day-to-day operations in a military confinement/correctional facility or detention/internment facility. I/R Specialists provide rehabilitative, health, welfare, and security to U.S. military prisoners within a confinement or correctional facility; conduct inspections; prepare written reports; and coordinate activities of prisoners/internees and staff personnel.

Some of your duties as an Internment/Resettlement Specialist may include:

  • Assist with the supervision and management of confinement and detention operations
  • Provide external security to confinement/corrections facilities or detention/internment facilities
  • Provide counseling and guidance to individual prisoners within a rehabilitative program
  • Prepare or review reports and records of prisoners/internees and programs

Now the key words are U.S. military prisoners, to me this means guard prisoners that are captured in Iraq or Afghanistan. It does in no way suggest that they will be used to guard Americans in government detention camps. But then again I am part of the sane side of America.

One claim comes from a retired FBI agent by the name of Ted Gunderson. He claims that the government has built 1,000 camps to house it's own citizens. He claims the camps stored 30,000 guillotines to murder it's critics. It also has stashed 500,000 caskets in Georgia and Montana for the remains.

Why guillotines? "Because," he wrote in a report obtained by the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups, "beheading is the most efficient means of harvesting body parts."

Jerome Corsi, the author of "The Obama

Quantcast

Nation," an anti-Obama book, says that a proposal in Congress "appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany."

Another Web site, Americanfreepress.net, says the proposal "would create a Guantanamo-style setting after martial law is declared."

There is no evidence to support any of these wild claims, yet people have latched on to them. The truth of the matter is that Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Fla, her bill would have the Department of Homeland Security create national emergency centers. The centers would provide temporary housing and medical care in a national emergency, such as a hurricane or earthquake.

The centers would also be used to train first responders and for "other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security."

In another ominous warning, a group called the Oathkeepers boasts that it wouldn't cooperate if the government orders dissidents locked up.

In my opinion people who believe these claims are even nuttier than the birthers and that is scary. The birthers may live on another planet of reality but these people who believe this, live in another galaxy of reality.

As all ways if you have a comment please post it or e-mail it to me directly, I love to hear from you all.
