Thank goodness for the Brits! Not only is British Politics swinging to the right, but it also appears that they are willing to print what the American Main Stream Media would prefer to ignore! Which is of course no surprise given that the American Press is part of one of the greatest hoaxes ever pulled in humanity. Let us not digress however.
The Guardian UK thankfully has the fortitude to tell the story of a Burger King Franchise in the Memphis area. They quote the local online paper, the Memphis Flyer (homepage), following up on the original story. In one fell swoop, the Guardian UK took an American Civil Rights issue as well as the Global warming Hoax to another level.
A reporter for the Memphis Flyer Chris Davis, noticed a message on the marquis: “Global warming is Baloney”. He took a few pictures and made a few calls. He got a bit of a runaround at first, but he did get a few answers.
The following is a part of Mr. Davis's conversation with an employee of Burger King:
"BK: The sign was put up yesterday.
Me: And it's not a mistake?
BK: No.
Me: It reflects the opinion of BK international?
BK: Yes. Would you like to talk to the home office? I can give you a number.
Me: I've got the number, I've already contacted them. Thanks."
The Mirabile Investment Corporation (MIC) which owns the franchises in question is not responding to many press inquiries, but its Marketing President, John McNelis, did speak to the Guardian when they picked up the story and took it international.
Hooray! The Global Warming is a Hoax message is getting out!
What makes this an interesting story on civil rights is the comments made by MIC’s Marketing President who said to the Guardian: "The [restaurant] management team can put the message up there if they want to. It is private property and here in the US we do have some rights.” McNelis goes further to say: “Burger King can bluster all they want about what they can tell the franchisee to do, but we have free-speech rights in this country so I don't think there's any concerns."
Susan Robison Burger King’s Corporate Communications Vice-President informed the Guardian that …”the view expressed by the franchisee on this issue does not reflect Burger King Corp's opinion” . Ah, well, you can’t win them all. At least MIC has the mettle for the fight!
It is good to see any American Corporation standing up for its right to free speech. Even better when they are speaking the truth!
The original article at the Memphis flyer is worth a read and the comments are a hoot!

If you google the story you will find it is just one crazy franchise owner, wearing a tin foil hat, yelling about aliens and global warming.
The lone loon makes the point that those who deny "anthropogenic climate change" are nothing but ding dongs.
Way to go Olivia!
Typical warmer: can't fight the facts, so resort to personal attacks.
I will go out of my way to give that franchise more business. It is good to see people who are not afraid to tell the truth. Global warmists, get off the electricity grid and shut up!
McNelis, the Burger King franchisee, deserves our congratulations, business and support for being a great American and giving all us an example of courage and patriotism. Imagine the magnitude of McNelis crime! Apparently disagreeing with Gores doctrine in even this small way is now such a vile crime that it merited Keith Olbermanns Worst Person of the Day award.
Europeans are hoping for U.S. leadership in debunking the global warming/climate change hoax, which has already hurt many people.
At the third International Conference on Climate Change in Washington, DC, a few days ago, where top world scientists and economists spoke against the global warming hoax, Lord Christopher Monckton, former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, said it was up to us, Americans, to save the world from the hoax. He said:
"... the highly placed conspirators who seek to ride the climate scare to world domination have reckoned without one thing. You. You are here, and you will not let the truth go.
"Thanks to you, it is becoming evident that the rent-seeking promoters of this great boondoggle, through the very scientific ignorance that they had sought to exploit in others, have merely deluded themselves.
"In the end, it will be here, in the United States, that the truth will first emerge. ... Not in Europe, for we are no longer free..."
Do you really believe in freedom of speech? Then post this. This story first appeared on MSNBC Countdown, and in several GW blogs long before you picked it up. So much for "Liberal press" censorship. As usual you have your facts wrong.
pappy-
the facts are on her side-she need not fight them
AntonioSosa:
Regarding International Conference on Climate Change: This is a conference hat is run/sponsored by a conservative think-tank group called The Heartland Institute located in the United States. In addition to their views on global warming, they also advocate the 'fact' that second-hand smoke is not damaging.
hmmm.
How utterly predictable that "Evan" regurgitates anti-global warming skeptic talking points. A mere few minutes of reading the Heartland Institute's opinion on 2nd-hand smoke disproves Evan's claim about that, and the political views of the Institute are irrelevant to the science debate - which despite what the IPCC and Al Gore say, never happened.
There are three basic questions that global warming believers need to answer, if they want to prevent their entire cause from collapsing: If the global warming debate is truly over, HOW were expert scientists offering conclusions contradictory to IPCC reports addressed and disproved beyond a shadow of a doubt? Exactly which of those skeptic reports have been clearly shown to be complete fabrications created under the direction of oil / coal industry officials? If debunking the skeptics' conclusions is so easy, why do global warming believers always resort to smearing the scientists or censoring them?

You are quite incorrect.
A franchise owner is not a corporation. This particular franchise owner has instead impacted the market for the rest of the franchise owners and will probably pay significantly as will his employees. Really stupid, but then he thinks global warming is a hoax, so there you have it. Proof.
The Burger king I used to go to will see one less customer. However, my local franchise owner may or may not have any position on global warming, he certainly wasn't stupid enough to claim half his customer base is full of baloney.
Odds are that the smarter you are, the better the chance you read the story about the hoax signs and decided it is time to stop eating fast food altogether.
I have, but occasionally I get a Whopper.
Not any more.
I will make it a point to eat at BK. If enough others follow - it may become the Corporate Position. If that occurs and they start getting marketshare.......
