Congress mulls breaking constitution to pass health care

Eric Cantor, Minority Whip 3-18-2010

The debate raging in Washington DC and across the nation this week seems to center on Health Care. In reality, it is a fight for the nation's very identity.

In the early 1930's liberal progressives in congress and the White House tried to push the Nation down the road to socialism, and to a fair degree they succeeded. They created generations of Americans dependent on a government check for their income, food, electricity, gas as well as health care.

If those funds should dry up tomorrow, not only would they be destitute, but there would be a whole lot of them. People who are starving are also known to be willing to do whatever it takes to eat including breaking laws.

The individuals that live on this meager existence can tell you that it isn't enough, and to a great degree they are correct. Yet the system can't afford to give them more, there are not the funds to do it with as it stands.

Instead of saving and investing their own funds, a whole generation of seniors entrusted their wages to Uncle Sam and people like Nancy and Barack, who then over-spent it and otherwise robbed the fund blind over decades. Now our seniors live on social security payments that they were told would take care of all their needs in their Golden Years. Very few of those people who supported the massive entitlement program now known as Social Security would call it a success, particularly for those seniors who wait at the mail box for that monthly check so they can decide between food and medicine.

Social Security has failed to live up to its billing in the 30's and 40's. But never mind the fact that the Progressives greatest "acheivment" is an abject failure and bankrupt, lets just repeat it all over again...

In light of this comes the brilliance of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama, here to add another 15 million + people to the rolls of Government handouts, and they have the nerve to tell us that it won't cost us anything!  Do they really think that we the people are buying into such a blatant and obvious lie? To call it insane is only to touch on the madness gripping democrats in Washington D.C.

To make matters worse, Pelosi et. al. are using the College Student Loan program to cover up the major cost increases this bill proposes, the CBO was not tasked with looking into how the Loan program is effected by and indeed used by the Health Care bill to hide the tremendous costs associated with the Health Care portion of this unconstitutional abomination. This is no different than a con artist's shell game on a street corner, and you and I are the intended marks.

So in comes another wave of Liberal/Progressive/Communist/Socialist ideologues, intending to put so much weight upon the backs of Americans that the entire system collapses (Cloward - Piven strategy of orchestrated crisis) - all the better to be able to "re-build" America in their socialist image, and that means one without that pesky Constitution getting in the way. Yes, that means Obama, Pelosi and Reid are deliberately and specifically doing all in their power to destroy the constitution. There is no other conclusion to be made. They aren't stupid, this is being done deliberately, and they will do anything, legal or not, to get what they want.

Using a parliamentary trick (they had to write a new rule just today for) deliberately, they seek to circumvent the constitution. Why? Because the Democrats don't have the votes to pass the Health Care bill.

The American public is outraged. The House Switchboard is getting upwards of 40,000 calls an hour. The overwhelming opinions of those calls are "KILL THE BILL". If the Slaughter Rule (the Democrats rule so new the ink isn't even dry yet) is used "deeming" the measure as having passed the house, (when it clearly has not and cannot), the public's outrage is going to be something to see.

Not in our lifetimes has the very foundation of our Nation been tested like this. The Health Care bill does not fit in any of the 18 enumerated powers of congress. The very bill itself is not legislation the Federal Congress can legally write. To have our government behaving in blatantly unconstitutional manners is a threat to all of us as citizens.

This isn't a partisan issue, this is an American one. What makes us American is our constitution. Without the protections afforded by this document, America will cease to exist.

It is up to all Americans to fight against the tyranny being offered on a gilt platter by the president and the congress. The meal on the platter appears appetizing, but it is full of poison. It will kill freedom.

Liberal Portland beware, socialism is only good until you run out of someone else's money.

Republican Whip Eric Cantor is correct; the American public does not want this bill. Believe this if nothing else; if it is passed into "law" by the democrats in DC, there will be hell to pay come November. If the democrat party does not change its present course, it will eventually come to be judged as a threat from within. With repeated attacks on the constitution, and blatant shunning of public will, the Democrats are venturing into territory that the English came to regret in 1776.

Beware, the sleeping giant is fully awake now, and it is not at all pleased with what is going on. In fact it is on it's feet now, and it is stepping out to stop what is happening to America, perpetrated by its leadership. The founders are rolling in their graves, they tried so hard to avoid this.

On the bright side, the Giant is awake now, and some real change is coming. Those in power now who vote for this abomination, are not going to like it much.

Europe has thousands of years experience and a health care system for all. We have hundreds of years experience and heath care for all is necessary. If providing heath care to all is socialism, then maybe we should look into that. The New Deal from the late President Roosevelt helped many. Social Security and Medicare as well as the New Deal probably had a lot of the same arguments. Even if you can not see these persons that are suffering from your home, know they still exist and they are Americans. Taxes will be based on income. Is your income that fragile that you will miss a few percent for a needy families health care? Medicare has reasonable flat rate fees for medical procedures and visits.

The poster below fails to mention that those European countries are in WORSE shape than we are! And we are headed the exact same direction. I don't know about you, but I don't want to live in a place like Greece, look at what is happening there. That is the end game of socialism, a real, live, realtime reality show about the collapse of yet another socialist government. I don't want that here yet liberals/progressive/socialist/communists are shoving it down our throats. Nope, we are done now. We know who the real enemies are. We aren't going down wihout a fight.

Sharon, you clearly live in a fantasy world where there are no shades of gray and no harsh and brutal truths - how nice for you. This country is grounded in its Constitution - a Constitution that is being desecrated before our very eyes - consequently our country is collapsing by the hands of our current leaders. You will be a slave! Can't you get that?

The right is afraid of the left; the left is afraid of the right. It won't be socialism or capitalism that destroys this country . . . It will be a nation so divided that we refuse to find common ground from which to work.

AND, BOTH PARTIES AND "IDEAOLOGIES" ARE EQUALLY GUILTY AND RESPONSIBLE.

Responsible because; anyone with an education that covered some aspect of conflict resolution (our leaders) knows that negotiation requires give-and-take. It is further known that it is an absolute fallicy to belive "if you get what you want, I can't get what I want". To move forward from a divisive issue requires work and concession of all parties. Posturing for the purpose of absolute power is an ego driven undertaking. Shame on all who refuse to seek some understanding of the others postion. How conceited one citizen, of a united republic, must be to think "their" postion is so well coceived that they can completely ignore the concerns and ideass of another citizen.

Here's what's BS: "Those that have - "have" and take advantage accordingly." You obviously didn't work to have what you have or you would not be so eager to condemn those who have and to have it taken from you and given to someone who has not.

But again, you have entirely missed the point of both this article and the video.

Progressivism is the evil that is in America today and all Progressives are to blame, the Republican Progressives and the Democrat Progressives.

Yes folks, it is the idea of a limited government that we need to get back to. I look at NJ and that is what we need now, right now, here in river city. We need to cut government dramatically. We need to de-fund government. We can kill the beast by cutting off it's food supply, through the budget. I say the next congress should do a major slash of budgets of all departments. EPA, FDA, FCC, etc. - next year you get half of this year's. After that, we will give you only half of that.

We are at war and the progressives are at the gates. They want to destroy the constitution. The want to rule us. We are a free people! We are the last hope for humanity! The wrenches in Europe are doomed. We must fight, for ourselves and our children. While we have a chance, we must fight tyranny!!!

To John and other extreme conservatives: I have just the solution for you. There is a country that sounds like what you're looking for. They have very limited government, no public health care, or public relief, or public anything. You either make it on your own or go under. Those who can afford it are armed to the teeth. After all, they need to protect themselves from...from what? The government? No. From each other.

That country is Somalia. You know, the country with the pirates. The country that has allowed itself to deregulate to the point that nothing and no one is safe.

Yeah, we need more of that. Let's deregulate the banks, the insurance companies, and all the other corporations. Let's give them human rights. Oops..Supreme Court just did that. Things should get better now, eh?

The US Constitution declares that we have right to life. And without medical care, life is difficult indeed. Health care is a right, not a privilege.

Private health care is a crime against hum

Gosh are we glad your type isn't in the White House. There isn't a person on Capitol Hill that doesn't believe the health-care / insurance system needs an overhaul. What upsets the far right is that the graft and corruption in the system is going to take a hit. And, the portion of the medical system that has taken advatage is going to have to find another way to bilk the American public. So whine as you may, but if you believe people need to start earning their way; the standadrs you assign to the workers should be the same standards (or higher) that corporate America has to aspire too. Dear Mike,

The major problem I have with this bill (now law) is that it mandates people to have healthcare. Where in the Constitution is the power given to Congress to force the citizens of the United States to purchase a good? It seems unconstitutional to me. Also, this entire system has been implemented in Massachusetts and they are going bankrupt. It doesn't work. Stop attacking the character of your political opponents and do some reading for a change so you can form an opinion based of evidence and not worthless name-calling.
