Mrs. Carmella thanks Jesus every day.

Mrs. Carmella is 85 years old. She's living in a FEMA trailer in Chalmette, LA. St. Bernard Parish was one of the worst hit during Hurricane Katrina. It was here that one of the Levees broke, flooding 90% of the community.
Mrs. Carmella wants to rebuild her house. She's been there since 1957, and she can't imagine living anywhere else. She and her sons and the church have been working on gutting the house. She's paid out $11,000 for electrical and plumbing work. She's chuffed that she got a $70 senior citizen discount on the plumbing.

Mrs. Carmella is 87 years old. She's living in a FEMA trailer in Chalmette, LA. St. Bernard Parish is limping along since Hurricane Katrina. Many of its stock citizens, the elderly, have not returned.
Mrs. Carmella's house is nearly finished. With the help of her church and community organizations, she has rebuilt. She will be moving in within the next month. She thanks Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary every day for giving her a wonderful life.
