Sadly, Seafood City is no longer, but the address of
1826 North Broad will be etched into our collective
memory for years to come.
Seafood City is a-mighty pretty: 1826 North Broad.
I came down with a fit of nostalgia last night. Trawling the blogs, I discovered this mini-doc about beloved New Orleanian and seafood magnate Al Scramuzza. If ya'll from here, ya'll know who I'm talkin' 'bout, so sit ya momanem down to watch Dr. Scramuzza administer seafood tonics. For those of you not from our fair city, you are in for a treat.
Reeeceptionist! Please bring my vitamins!

What a treat indeed! Such a character.
He was lucky to be able to sell out to Walgreen.I remember before he closed,he gave me loads of oyster shells to haul off(also, from the St.Roch Market) to help fill my lot in St.Bernard parish, since most there were too "shellfish"to give any away. That's about all left there that looters don't want,I guess 'cause they're not made of copper, the new scrap scrounger's gold.(There's just about NO law enforsement left in that parish with the sheriff devoting most attention to his new home in Covington,& his F.Q. Lafitte Bar enterprise, instead of his former home in EastSt.Bernard, which could be turned into a triving Seafood source that could alone keep old Al busy day&nite.Maybe someday Da Parish'll get a real FULL-time sheriff before it turns into a "risky" area.
