Union thug arrested in beating of Ken Gladney files for worker's comp

Meet Elston K. McCowan. He’s the Public Service Director of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 2000, and a Baptist minister, in St. Louis. He is also one of the thugs arrested for allegedly beating Kenneth Gladney after the Russ Carnahan town hall meeting in St. Louis last month. After his arrest, McGowan said Gladney, who is half his size, actually attacked him. He insists he was the victim, and he has now filed for worker’s compensation. He claims he was injured, while on the clock.

Readers may recall that we previously reported that an angry mob attacked a Kenneth Gladney outside a town hall meeting on healthcare in St. Louis on August 6. The group was “invited” to the meeting by U.S. Representative Russ Carnahan (Dem., Mo.), who had a reserved seating section for them inside the hall, while security guards posted outside refused entry to members of the Tea Party Coalition. Mr. Gladney was exercising his First Amendment rights outside the hall, by handing out flyers with the revolutionary “Don’t Tread on Me” flag on the cover. He was assaulted by a bunch of thugs from the SEIU, proudly wearing their purple union shirts with the SEIU logo.

Be sure to look for the union label

McCowan is a well known “community organizer” in the St. Louis area. A board member of the Walbridge Community Education Center, and a Baptist minister, he has been a community activist for more than 23 years. Last year, he announced that he is running for Mayor of the City of St. Louis under the banner of the Green Party of St. Louis. Part of his political platform is “…to end the discontent and lack of hope in the city.”

Reporter Jim Durbin, writing on the web site 24thstate.com has posted an email sent by McCowan to his supporters, asking for money:

Subj: Re: We Need a Defense Committee for McCowan/attacked by Teaparty Thugs

Hi All,
I think a truth committee is needed as well as legal and medical funds. To-date my workman's comp has been denied, which means that I have to pay co-pays for my Dr.'s visits as well as deductibles. Currently SEIU Local 2000 is paying for my legal fees in defending myself and any others charged with assault associated with the Union. I hope that if there is a Civil Suite (sic) against me, they will pay those legal fees as well, but there aren't any guarantees at this juncture.
Thanks,
Elston

Kenneth Gladney

Poor Mr. McCowan. Out there on the front lines, serving as “public service director” for his local union, when he’s set upon by a “teaparty thug,” half his size, and viciously thrown to the ground, for no reason at all. Not only was he arrested, but now, his worker’s comp claim has been denied, and he needs help with his co-pays and deductibles. Thank goodness his union is paying the legal fees for his criminal defense.

Oh! The humanity!
