Al Gore is a liar

Calling Al Gore a liar is like calling Paris Hilton a slut: It’s old news, and no one even pretends to be shocked. If the former vice-president ever told the truth, it would demand “man bites dog” front-page coverage.  No serious person ever credited him with inventing the internet, and even the union ladies a the ILGWU knew he was fudging when he claimed to remember his mama singing him to sleep with “Look For The Union Label,” despite the fact that the union themesong was written a couple of decades after Al’s birth.  Even his Earth In The Balance / Inconvenient Truths acolytes are thinning out faster than the ozone layer.

But liars, particularly in the political world, need to be confronted publically. Political lies which are uncontradicted tend to get repeated. And lies which are repeated tend to show up in history books as facts.

Algore was interviewed Friday on CNN by reporter John Roberts, and used the occasion to jump on his successor Dick Cheney for criticizing President Obama so soon after the election. In the interview, Gore said he himself had refrained from criticizing President Bush until more than two years after the Clinton administration came to an end. "I waited two years after I left office to make statements that were critical, and then of the policy," he said. "You know, you talk about somebody that shouldn't be talking about making the country less safe, invading a country that did not attack us and posed no serious threat to us at all."

Roberts & Gore on CNN Friday

Gore was lying and distorting the historical record, as he blasted the Bush administration and its allies in the Commonwealth Club speech on September 23, 2002:

In just one year, the President has somehow squandered the international outpouring of sympathy, goodwill and solidarity that followed the attacks of September 11th and converted it into anger and apprehension aimed much more at the United States than at the terrorist network.....

Far more damaging, however, is the Administration’s attack on fundamental constitutional rights. The idea that an American citizen can be imprisoned without recourse to judicial process or remedies, and that this can be done on the say-so of the President or those acting in his name, is beyond the pale and un-American and it ought to be stopped.

The CNN report from the next day commented that Gore “warned Monday that President Bush’s doctrine allowing for a ‘pre-emptive’ strike against Iraq could create a global ‘reign of fear.’” It added that the former vice president, “[w]hile backing Bush’s overall goal of ousting Saddam and eliminating Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction...questioned the timing of a military strike, as envisioned in the proposed resolution he’s sent to Capitol Hill.” John Roberts was a White House correspondent for CBS News at the time, so it is likely that he was aware of Gore’s 2002 speech, although he didn’t seem to feel the need to mention it in Friday’s interview.

If you Google the words “Al Gore” and “lie” together, you will find 10,900,000 hits, beating Nancy Pelosi by several lengths.

Sorry, guys. A lifelong registered Democrat, the only corporation I ever worked for was a supermarket, where I was a 16-year-old stock boy. I did, however, vote once for Algore, in 1992, so I guess that makes me a dope.

al gore cleaning up the environment has hurt asthma patients all over the US. They changed the fast-acting inhalers(cfc) to proair(hfa)and people are suffering. They spray this into their mouth's, not the ozone. his plane should be grounded if he wants to save the ozone, instead of taking away a medication that works from people. i have wrote to politicians, but no help.look up proair.com and you can read how this new inhaler is not fast-acting or much help.
