After the Thursday, December 17th vote of 6-1 by the Fresno City Council, the Fresno Grizzlies, the triple-A affiliate of the San Fransisco Giants, have been approved for their new stadium lease at city owned Chuckchansi Park.
The sole holdout on the vote, preventing unanimous approval, came from Councilman Henry T. Perea.
The vote allows city representatives to complete the lease deal with the owner of the Grizzlies, the Fresno Baseball Club.
The terms of the lease agreed upon allow the city to keep collecting the rent on usage of the stadium to finance payments on construction bonds and also gives the Grizzlies city subsidies to help the team stay solvent and, more importantly, in Fresno.
