Atlantic City Police seeking public's help in Drexel Ave drive by shooting early Friday morning

 

A rash of shootings continues to plague Atlantic City. The latest report came from the 700 block of Drexel Avenue where multiple shots were reported.

called Atlantic City Police dispatch to report hearing multiple gunshots at approximately 2:00 a.m. ," stated Sgt. Monica McMenamin, spokesperson for the department.

McMenamin said police officers arrived but did not locate a victim. 

Witnesses told police that after hearing the gunshots they heard someone screaming and a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed, stated McMenamin.

Shortly after the shooting personnel from AtlantiCareRegionalMedical  Center contacted the police department to report a man had entered the emergency room with multiple gunshot wounds. 

The victim, Jahlil Cooper, age 19 of Atlantic City, was conscious.  Cooper has sustained gunshot wounds to the hand and foot.  Cooper was admitted to the hospital, the wounds do not appear to be life threatening. 

Detective George Brown interviewed Cooper.  Cooper indicated he observed a vehicle speeding by his residence, heard gunshots and realized he was shot.  No suspect description was provided. The investigation is continuing.
