Atlantic City - Lawsuit filed in pizza for teen sex scandal at Firehouse 2

The National Action Network leaders stand outside Firehouse 2 each
day during school hours to protect the children from what they believe
used to be a "safe place" for kids to go.

The axe has fallen in the case of a firefighter who alleged lured two 16-year-old teens into the firehouse with pizza in an alleged sex scandal that has rocked the city.

Today the families of two, 16-year-old girls have filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of Atlantic County.

The girls went to Firehouse 2 around 8 p.m. on May 16 to have pizza. Earlier in the day they claim a firefighter invited them to come back that night for the snack.

The firehouse is located on Indiana and Baltic avenues.

After entering the firehouse that eveing, one girl allegedly exposed her breasts and both girls allegedly fondled the firefighter’s genitals. He allegedly then masturbated, according to a statement issued by the local chapter of the National Action Network (NAN), headed by President Steve Moore.

The NAN has been patrolling outside the firehouse in Atlantic City during school hours and they have protested at the firehouse. They have also tried to make a citizen’s arrest, according to Vice President Gordon Sunkett.

The firefighter named in the lawsuit is Richard Williams. He is white and the teens are black. His attorney has denied all wrong doing and told the Associated Press that his client was off duty that night and the allegations are "patently false."

He also alleges that the motive for the lawsuit is  “money.”

The incident allegedly happened in May. When the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office heard of the case later in the summer, they took control of the investigation. After the investigation, including interviewing all the girls involved in the incident, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel declined to charge the fighters.

Housel stated that there was no evidence of forced sexual contact. He also stated that sexual contact between 16-year-old girls and the firefighter was not a crime under the statutes in New Jersey.

The case has been handed back to the City of Atlantic City for administrative review.  Mayor Lorenzo Langford promised the citizens that “heads will roll,” if the allegations proved to be true.

The girls never went to the police in the aftermath of the investigation. A mother of one of the girls involved allegedly found an inappropriate photo taken by a cell phone and went to the authorities.

This is a developing story, check back for updates on Thursday after Langford holds a press conference in the city.
