On Saturday, January 30th, 2010 despite a cold, freezing week end day in Montreal, a group of about 100 citizens and politicians armed with banners, warmed up by the firm idea and aspiration to achieve the truth, marched from City Hall to the Premier's Montreal office. The purpose of the demonstration is to create the repeatedly demanded commission of inquiry into supposed corruption and dishonest cost overruns in Quebec's construction industry.

The demonstration was organized by the Mouvement Anti - Corruption (MAC), an initiative of students from the CEGEP Vieux Montréal. According to Xavier Daffe-Bordeleau, a MAC founder and spokesman, “a public inquiry is the only way to repair the system and correct its foundations”. Operation Hammer, the Quebec government special squad formed to investigate the link between the construction industry and organized crime failed to give the expected transparency.

Amir Khadir, the Québec solidaire member of the National Assembly originally gave the idea for an online petition regarding this matter. That was adopted by the Parti Québécois and launched December 4th, 2009. The PQ, which had a heavy presence at the march, has collected by now around 33,000 signatures.
