Former Milwaukee Brewers owner and current baseball commissioner Bud Selig joined the ranks of Robin Yount and Hank Aaron in getting a statute outside of Miller Park. Several former Brewers players were on hand for the celebration, as was Rachel Robinson, the widow of baseball great Jackie Robinson. The guest list for the event read as a who's who from media and sports. Reps from 20 major league teams were there, as well as former Green Bay Packers President Bob Harlan former general manager Ron Wolf. Dick Ebersol, Joe and Frank Torre, Barry Alvarez and political writer George Will were also at the event. Fittingly, Brewers radio announcer Bob Uecker was the master of ceremonies.
Hank Aaron Calls Bud Selig His Hero
Selig got his start in professional baseball in 1970 when he purchased the Seattle Pilots and brought the team to Milwaukee. Hank Aaron spoke at the event, calling Selig his hero. He said that Selig has " taken baseball to a far better place than where he found it," according to WISN.
