Wisconsin Ginseng growers experienced a high level of damage in May, when unusual snow and ice storms covered their crops. According to TMJ4, growers in counties such as "Clark, Forest, Menominee, Oconto, Oneida, Portage, Price, Shawano, Taylor, Waupaca and Wood" will be eligible for crop insurance and emergency loans.

Wisconsin Growers Produce 95% of All Ginseng Consumed in U.S.

Wisconsin has about 200 ginseng growers, which produce almost all of the ginseng consumed in the entire United States. The Ginseng Board of Wisconsin says that American Ginseng is a "white root with medicinal properties known to relieve stress, increase stamina and increase resistance to common illnesses such as colds."

Ginseng Has Been Cultivated in Wisconsin for Over a Century

Wisconsin has the perfect climate and soil for growing ginseng root, which has been cultivated in the state for over 100 years.
