Pueblo students assigned terrorist plot? What were they thinking?
In what has to be the most inane school assignment of the year, a Pueblo ninth-grade teacher assigned 110 students to come up with an idea for a terrorist attack.
School superintendent Dan Lere stated that students "may have misinterpreted the assignment," but did not clarify what the assignment was or how it could have been misinterpreted.
The unidentified teacher who gave out the assignment explained themselves by stating that the purpose of the assignment was to "illustrate an act of terrorism."
Furthermore, Lere stated, if a student were actually to complete the assignment, there a good chance that the student would face expulsion, although the district has decided just to collect the student's assignments and destroy them.
In addition to refusing to name the teacher, the district did not state what the consequences of not turning in the assignment might be for students or if any law enforcement agencies had been informed or expressed an investigative interest in the matter. There was speculation that some students might be afraid to turn in the assignment for fear of creating a law enforcement interest in themselves or that the school might not immediately destroy or somehow misplace the assignments.

Wow, that is a crazy assignment. This is just another article to add to me "resons to homeschool" file.
* "Reasons" not "resons", typo.
Why don't the teachers themselves write a terrorist plot. I bet they would'nt, so why are they making the kids do it? This is absolutely rediculous. If this is some kind of sick psycological experiment on the kids, shame on that school ! What is the matter with kids education these days? Goodness :-(
Wow. Because if there's one thing our students need, it's to visualize enacting violence.
I understand what the teacher had in mind I THINK
not a well thought out and I choose to believe He made a very stupid misstake for many reasons
the DoD runs these simulations constantly it is a constant book that keeps being added to
and then crossed refrencing
bed Idea "HIGH SCHOOL" bad idea
There's a very large difference between coming up with ideas for a terrorist attack and executing a terrorist attack. I'm not sure what this teacher's goal was but if nothing else, this assignment surely got the kids' attention.
Just recently passing the Columbine 10th anniversary, one of the biggest acts of terrorism in a high school ever. Some how a teacher thinks it is okay to have students think like a terrorist. This is nuts. Teacher should be fired.
