A record-setting crowd attended the 19th Annual Chocolate Affair Feb. 4. The social fundraiser drew more than 1,600 to support the work and mission of Health Care for the Homeless and generate essential resources to build a future without homelessness.
Contributions to the cause are still being tabulated.
The business/cocktail fete’, held on the club level of M&T Bank Stadium, brought together more than 50 of Baltimore’s best restaurants, caterers and chocolatiers to serve up delectable treats and compete for awards by celebrity judges. The award-winning vendors were as follows--
- Tastiest Chocolate Treat: Bistro Brownies
- Tastiest Non-Chocolate Treat: Belmont Manor House & Conference Center
- Most Creative Use of Chocolate: Chesapeake Food Works
- Best Candy Piece: Linwoods
- Best Visual Presentation: Intercontinental Harbor Court Hotel, who also tied for Best New Vendor with Crush
- Best Booth Display: Chefs Expressions, who also tied for Best Experienced Vendor with Brewers Art
- Best Beverage: Patron XO

Rick Dempsey, former Baltimore Orioles catcher and World Series MVP, served as honorary chair of the sweet event this year while CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield was the presenting sponsor.
In 2009, Health Care for the Homeless provided comprehensive services to 12,000 different Marylanders during 74,000 patient visits at clinic sites in Baltimore City, Frederick, and in Montgomery, Harford, and Baltimore counties.
