Cincinnati interim head coach Jeff Quinn openly expressed interest in the head coaching position of the Bearcats.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that, at a media luncheon today, Quinn stated:

"From the directive of (UC AD) Mike Thomas, he has asked that no comment be made about the process and the search,” Quinn said. “Yes, I am interested and have stated my genuine and sincere interest in being the next head football coach at the University of Cincinnati, but there will be no further comments stated on the process until it is completed.”

Quinn did not address the possibility of going to Notre Dame, saying his focus is on UC’s Jan. 1 Sugar Bowl game against Florida at the Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans.  Rumors have swirled that Quinn will leave Cincinnati to join Brian Kelly at Notre Dame either immediately after the Sugar Bowl or upon the hiring of a different head coach.  The interim coach has been Brian Kelly's offensive coordinator for 21 years.

As was reported here yesterday, Quinn is also rumored to be a possible replacement for newly hired Kansas head coach Turner Gill at the University of Buffallo.

Coaching rumors will continue to swirl until Cincinnati fills its head coaching position. We will continue to keep readers up to date on the latest developments. Please remember that rumors are unconfirmed until a coach is officially signed!
