Murcielago, "The Bat" in Spanish, is the latest offering from Espinosa y Ortega. The Murcielago is manufactured by Pepin Garcia for EyO.

The Toro vitola has a box press shape that looked good and felt firm to the touch. The dark maduro wrapper had a slight sheen that added to its attractivness. Looking over the cigar, it had a well formed cap and a few veins. The wrapper gave off a dirt and hat aroma and from the foot, I could smell a faint grassy aroma.

After clipping the cap, the pre-light draw was very easy. I could taste a tartness on my lips from the wrapper.

Once the cigar was lit, the first few puffs made my tongue tingle. There was a big spice sensation on the exhale for about the first half inch. The cigar produced a great amount of smoke that had a thick mouthfeel. For the first third, the main flavor was cedar with a spicey aftertaste.

The ash was light gray with black stripes. It held onto for about an inch and a half before it fell off.

As I got into the second third of the Murcielago, the cigar began to smooth out a little. The smoke still tingled my tongue but to a lesser degree. In addition to the cedar flavor, I could taste some wood and also a sweetness on the finish.

I enjoyed this cigar very much. It was not your run of the mill maduro. This is a great cigar if you are looking for a change of pace.

The Murcielago Toro comes in boxes of 20 and sells for around $8 per cigar.
