Malfetano is made by Alec Bradley for Azon Cigars. The name "Malfetano" is owner Michael Beaudry’s great grandmother’s last name. She came from Italy and the picture on the band is of her home town. The color blue in the band is a family favorite color. The process to choose a blend and make the cigars took almost a year.

I had the pleasure of smoking a few samples and here are my findings:

Malfetano RobustoThe wrapper has a reddish/brown color with one or two prominent veins. The wrapper felt very smooth and also had a velvety feel.

The aromas I got from the wrapper and foot consisted of cedar and tobacco. The pre-light draw was easy and I could taste a faint woody tobacco.

Upon lighting, the cigar gave off abundant smoke. Overall, the cigar burned slowly and evenly. The ash was firm, dark and held on for a good inch and a half before dropping off.

Flavors from the first half of the cigar were wood and tobacco. As I progressed, the cigar developed a sweet aftertaste with coffee notes along with the tobacco flavor. Towards the last third or so, I could taste spice on my tongue.

The cigar was firm and seemed to be constructed well. There were never any burn issues.

The Robusto retails for $7.70 and the Belicoso retails for $8.30. Azon will be adding a Corona and Double Corona to round out the vitola offerings. A CT Shade and a Corojo wrapper are coming in the near future. Azon Cigars is currently working with brokers to bring this cigar nationwide. Look for it at your local tobacconist soon.
