One of the newest cigars to come onto the scene is the Cain, in both Maduro and Habano wrappers. Today I will be reviewing the Cain Maduro.
The maduro has a beautiful dark wrapper. Picking up the cigar, it has a solid feel with a lot of heft. It just feels packed solid with tobacco. It is a unique feeling for a cigar this size.
The aroma of the wrapper is chocolate all the way, with leather at the foot.
On the pre-light, I received a good draw. The cigar lit easily and produced great smoke volume. The profile in the begging of the Cain maduro is more chocolate with hint of spice. There is a bit of sweetness at the end of each draw. The spice increases as does the strength as I went along. The base flavor of semi-sweet chocolate continues throughout.
The cigar burned evenly with a Nub like ash. The ash was firm and a light grey color. After about 2 inches, it fell off.
While I would consider this a strong cigar, I felt it was nicely balanced and smooth. I never felt overpowered by this blend. The Cain Straight Ligero Maduro is an awesome cigar that lives up to the hype. They burn slowly so smoke time was about an hour and fifteen minutes. I picked up three Maduros and three Habanos for five dollars a stick. I’ve heard average retail is anywhere from six to nine dollars each.
